"We want you to play Titty Malaysia”
The Tatianapocalypse is something I was incredibly proud to be a part of, I guess you could say it was the night I really became involved in tumblr. It was such a defining thing for the whole fandom, and while the clonepocalypse of April 19th as great and everything, I really think the Tatianapocalypse was extra special in it’s spontaneity and scope.
Here’s how it went down:
On the Saturday night before the Golden Globes, the idea was floated around that maybe the entire cloneclub could change their url on golden Globes day to Tatianamaslany# and their icon to a picture of Tmas herself as a sign of solidarity and support for her during the globes. (Kind of like the Mishapocalypse if you’re familiar with the Supernatural fandom but better because we weren’t obnoxious about it). That night as it started happening, suddenly no one knew who anyone was anymore. We just became this mass of Tatiana Maslanys, making jokes about clones and how many of us there were and just basically maniacally blogging love and support for the show and for Tmas and for the fandom as a whole. Many people hit post limit that day and our dashes were on fire.
It really was something magical. Like, even though Tatiana didn’t win it was still just so special in how hundreds and even thousands of us came together for that one night so spontaneously.
As for the Titty Malaysia thing…some poor innocent made a post talking about “that Titty Malaysia person from Orphan Black.” The fandom saw it, latched on, and overnight “Titty Malaysia” was the big fandom in-joke.
This fandom ranges from great things like the tatianapocalypse to, well, the Titty Malaysia thing, and everything in between. We’re weird, in the best possible way.
I love it.
